Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce welding cost of extra thick steel plates and to improve quality of a weld zone in the stage of electron beam welding by using arc welding for welding of the final layer.
CONSTITUTION: A square-groove 2 is first welded by electron beam welding then a single-Vee-groove 3 is welded by using arc welding, for example, tungsten inert gas welding in the stage of welding the extra thick plates 7. The projecting part on the surface of the weld zone is thus decreased and the resistance to high- temp. cracking and corrosion is improved.
