To improve durability of an electronic component against an exfoliation load to a substrate.
The electronic component comprises a terminal holding part 30 holding plural terminals 20; a metal shell 40 having the terminal holding part inside, and forming an insertion opening for inserting a connection object to the terminal; and a contact terminal 60 provided adjacent to the metal shell, and having a contact plane 61 opposed to an insertion direction of the connection object to the metal shell. A plate-like leg part 47 for soldering and fixing the metal shell to the substrate is formed on a side face 42 of the metal shell, and the plate-like leg extends outward from the side face of the metal shell. A soldering face at the extension end is made in a shape having a base part S1 extending in an extension direction, and orthogonal extension parts S2, S3 orthogonal to the base part from a side edge of the base part and extending in the insertion direction of the insertion opening.
