To improve the operability of an electronic(E) mail when a terminal transmits/receives the E mail by allowing a gateway to execute prescribed processing for the E mail in each account in accordance with set contents described in a processing setting table.
The system is constituted of a terminal 10, a gateway 20, a mail server 40, and the Internet 50. When the terminal 10 transmits/receives an E mail, the gateway 20 executes prescribed processing for the E mail in accordance with set contents described in the processing setting table so as to apply various processing such as the deletion of an attached file, the conversion of the format of the attached file, the conversion of a text into an attached file, and the compression of the attached file to the E mail. Especially the gateway 20 converts the format of the attached file to a format allowed to be read out by the terminal 10, so that the operability of the E mail can be improved.
