Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to exchange electronic money(EM) with normal cash and to allow the EM to be generally accepted by inhibiting the transfer of an electronic symbol(ES) of money until a transaction money module(MM) is connected to a network having a security mechanism for updating a security parameter when power supply is interrupted and then power is supplied again. SOLUTION: The EM system is provided with a processor means for control, a communication means for communicating with another transaction MM 4 or a network, a ciphering means for applying a security cession, a memory means for storing an ES of money and a security parameter, and a power supply means. When power is supplied again after interrupting power supply, the ES of money is inhibited from being transferred until the MM 4 is connected to the network having the security mechanism 28 for updating the security parameter. Namely when the transaction MM 4 indivisually loses power, an electronic bill 11 can not be paid until the MM 4 is connected to the network again after restoring the power of the MM 4 and the security parameter is updated.
