To provide an electronic program guide remote control system which receives and reproduces electronic program guide information with a remote controller without displaying the electronic program guide information on a TV receiver, and can reproduce and record picture images by remote operation.

This remote control system is equipped with a remote controller 13 which obtains the electronic program guide information from a server on internet and selects and transmits the obtained information, a TV broadcast received picture recording reproducing apparatus 11 which records and reproduces picture image information or aural information on the basis of the electronic program guide information selected with the remote controller 13, and a TV receiver 12 which outputs and displays the picture image information or the aural information reproduced with the apparatus 11.
