To provide an electronic scanning radar device that has high robustness, and estimates the number of incoming waves with high accuracy when an eigenvalue decomposition such as a MUSIC scheme or Esprit scheme is used to perform incoming wave estimation and to estimate an incoming wave direction.
The inventive electronic scanning radar device comprises: a transmission part that is mounted in a moving body and transmits a transmission wave; a reception part that consists of a plurality of antennas receiving the incoming wave, which is a reflection wave from a target; a beat signal generation part that generates a beat signal for the transmission wave and the incoming wave; a frequency decomposition part that performs frequency decomposition of the beat signal into a beat frequency having the set number of frequency decomposition in an entire frequency range or in a set frequency range, and calculates a plurality of complex number data; a correlation matrix calculation part that calculates a plurality of correlation matrices, respectively, from the plurality of complex number data; and a determination part that detects a maximum value of a diagonal element, respectively, from the plurality of correlation matrices to estimate the number of the incoming waves for the correlation matrix of which the maximum value is equal to or more than a threshold value, and not to estimate the number of incoming waves for the correlation matrix of which the maximum value is less than the threshold value as a reception level is low.
