To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor having high surface hardness, high wear and scuffing resistances and retaining stable characteristics in repetitive use even at high temperature and high humidity by specifying the nitrogen atom content of a resin layer containing a siloxane resin having a crosslinked structure.
The electrophotographic photoreceptor has a resin layer containing a siloxane resin having a crosslinked structure and having 0.2-0.5 at.% nitrogen atom content. In order to incorporate a compound containing a large quantity of nitrogen into a resin layer, a reactive electric charge transferring material having an amine structure in large quantities is allowed to react with an organosilicon compound and structural units having electric charge transferring ability are incorporated into the resulting siloxane resin structure. The objective resin layer is thus formed. The amine structure of the reactive electric charge transferring material is preferably a secondary or tertiary amine structure. The siloxane resin has controlled hydrophilic property and increased hydrophobic property.
