Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrophotographic photoreceptor having high sensitivity and low residual potential and less liable to film scraping at the time of repetitive use, by incorporating a specified azo pigment as an electric charge generating material into a photosensitive layer.
SOLUTION: This electrophotographic photoreceptor contains at least an azo pigment represented by formula I as an electric charge generating material in the photosensitive layer. In the IR adsorption spectrum of the electric charge generating material in the photosensitive layer, the carbonyl stretching vibration of anilide appears at >1,675cm-1 wave number. In the formula I, each of Cp1 and Cp2 is a residue of a coupler represented by formula II and each of R201 and R202 is H, a halogen, etc. In the formula II, R203 is H, an alkyl, etc., each of R204-R208 is H, nitro, etc., and Z is a group of atoms required to form an optionally substd. arom. carbon ring, etc.
