PURPOSE: To enhance sensitivity and to improve repeated use stability both even under high humidity by incorporating a specified pyrylium salt in an electric charge generating layer and a specified polyvinylacetal resin as the binder resin of a charge generating material.
CONSTITUTION: The charge generating layer 2 of the electrophotographic sensitive body contains the pyrylium salt represented by general formula I in which X is O, S, or Se; each of R1 - R5 is H, 1 - 20C alkyl, alkoxy, or optionally substituted aryl, and each of R1 and R2, R2 and R3, R3 and R4, and R4 and R5 may bond to each other to form an aromatic ring condensed with the pyrylium ring; and Z- is an anionic group. The polyvinyl acetal to be used as the binder resin of the charge generating material is represented by general formula II in which R is H, alkyl, or aryl, and each of l, m, and n stands for a polymerization degree.
