PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic capacity type sensor preventing insertion when closing a door by eliminating erroneous detection caused by disturbance such as sticking of waterdrops to perform precise detection when an object comes in proximity to or in contact with the sensor.
SOLUTION: This electrostatic capacity type sensor comprises a pair of detecting electrodes A, B provided for detecting the object by the difference of electrostatic capacity, and a shield electrode S surrounding the pair of detecting electrodes A, B. These electrodes are covered with an insulating member 5. When the object comes in contact with the sensor, the detecting electrode A moves and contacts the detecting electrode B. With this constitution, the insertion of the object is determined by comparing a difference value with a threshold value to prevent erroneous detection caused by disturbance, and the insertion in the non-contact state and contact state of the object is accurately detected.
