PURPOSE: To manufacture the gas-component sensing element characterized by excellent mechanical strength and durability and quick response speed, by providing a small hole at the vicinity of the gas coponent sensing element, while the diameter of said hole is larger than the diameter of a small hole provided in the inside.
CONSTITUTION: A green sheet 1 is composed of metal oxide such as TiO2 and CoO which has the surface area of 0.5m2/g or more and whose electric resistance is varied with the gas component, and synthetic resin. Electrode 2 is provided on the upper or bottom surface of the green sheet 1, with a specified distance being provided. On the outside of said electrode 2, is bonded a green sheet comprising metal oxide whose surface area is 1m2/g or less, 1W10wt% (with respect to metal oxide) of one or more sintering preventing agent selected among Al2O3, ZrO2, Y2O3, and Cr2O3, and synthetic resin. Then sintering is performed. The gas component sensing element having a gas sensing layers 14 is obtained. The layers 14 having the small hole with a large diameter are provided on the vicinity of the surfaces of a gas sensing layer 11 having the small hole with a small diameter.
