PURPOSE: To provide a rope for emergency descending and escaping to protect a human body from a fire, earthquake. explosion or the like in a low or medium-rise residence and the like.

CONSTITUTION: A device is provided with a rope 1 having a length from a height being an installation object to a position allowable for descending and escaping, a band 2 fixed to one end of the rope 1 for supporting a user's body and a pulley 3 suspended at a hook locking part fixed to a descending start position for rolling the rope 1. The device is also provided with a braking unit 4 which is fixed to an upper part of the band 2 fixed to the rope 1 and applies adjustable braking force to the rope 1 by operation of a user, through receiving insertion of also the rope 1 of the side turned back by the pulley 3.
