Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe emergency evacuation apparatus for use in emergencies such as fires and earthquakes.
SOLUTION: One end of a sliding plate member 3 is collapsibly attached via a hydraulic hinge 2 to the vicinity of a window, veranda or balcony of a building, and a ladder member 4 is connected to the other end of the sliding plate member 3. The sliding plate member 3 and the ladder member 4 are normally held in a parallel, upright condition, and in an emergency they serve as an evacuation ladder from upper to lower stories while in an upright condition. The sliding plate member 3 and the ladder member 4 are released from the upright condition and slowly collapsed forward by the braking action of the hydraulic hinge 2; with the sliding member 3 and the ladder member 4 folded, the lower end of the ladder member 4 is grounded to provide a safe evacuation path to the outside.
