PURPOSE: To provide an emergency lighting device by which blackening of a compact type fluorescent lamp can be prevented without shortening a battery time usable at one cycle time.

CONSTITUTION: Since a compact type fluorescent lamp FL is faster than a general fluorescent lamp in a speed at which electronic energy strikes against a tube wall, blackening is prevented by setting filament voltage equal to or higher than 2.0V. Since the blackening can not be diminished even if the filament voltage is set equal to or higher than 2.5V, by taking into consideration a battery time usable at one cycle time, the filament voltage is set not higher than 2.5V. The blackening of the compact type fluorescent lamp can be prevented without shortening the battery time usable at cycle one time.
