PURPOSE: To concurrently stop a car on both its sides by turning the pulling force transmitting mechanism of another side rope by a counter shaft provided between both side ropes when one side of winding ropes on both the sides of a car is cut.

CONSTITUTION: Both the sides of the car of a small elevator are elevated by winding ropes 2 and 2. When one side (e.g. the left side in a figure) of the ropes 2 and 2 is cut or loosened, the left half of a supporting frame 12 is lowered and the right half is elevated to pull a control wire 9 to stretch a control wire 10 until a stopper 17A is operated, thereby stopping lowering the car. An pulling force transmitter 11 is turned in a counterclockwise direction by the telescopic motion of the wires 9 and 10, and this turning its transmitted to a right side pulling force transmission mechanism 11' via a counter shaft 6 to operates a car falling preventive device 8' by control wires 9' and 10', consequently both the sides of the car can be concurrently braked to stop the car by simple mechanism.
