Abstract:
To obtain enough deceleration by causing enough friction between a braking member (a wedge) of an emergency stop device and a guide rail even when using a wet type rail as a guide rail for guiding elevation of a car.
The structure of the emergency stop device 10 is improved so that a pair of wedges 12 have a first contact part which first comes into contact with the guide rail 6 in operation and a second contact part which comes into contact with the guide rail 6 after the first contact part comes into contact with the guide rail, and the first contact part is placed at the lower end side of the wedge 12.
