Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an emulsion composition which is pollution-free and excellent in dispersibility in water and storage stability and gives good film performance by neutralizing a mixture of a specific aqueous resin and an alkyd resin, then dispersing the neutralized product in water.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 10 to 70wt.% of a aqueous resin prepared by maleinizing the esterified product from (i) a (semi)drying oil fatty acid, (ii) a copolymer of allyl alcohol-aromatic vinyl, further, when needed, (iii) a polybasic acid, monobasic acid or polyhydric alcohol is mixed with (B) 30 to 90wt.% of an alkyd resin containing 30 to 75wt.% of component i and neutralized, and dispersed in water to give object composition. It is preferred that, for example, component i is linseed oil fatty acid and component iii is phthalic acid, benzoic acid or ethylene glycol.
