The endoscope system 2 comprises an electronic endoscope 10, the processor device 11, and a light source unit 12. The processor device 11 is provided with a timing/driver circuit 36, an image forming circuit 37, an image processing circuit 38, a display circuit 39, a RAM 40, a ROM 41, an input/output I/F 42, an intrinsic information read part 43, a system controller 44, and dip switches SW1-SW6. The dip switches SW1-SW6 are selected matched with the specifications of the electronic endoscope 10. The system controller 44 controls the operations of respective parts matched with the selection state of the dip switches SW1-SW6.
