To provide an engine compartment structure for a car body which can ensure a high rigidity to an input load at a low cost.
An engine compartment 1 is divided into a front side annular frame section 33 and a rear side annular frame section 35 in the longitudinal direction. At a combining section 47 of a hood ridge member 3 which forms a longitudinal direction frame member, a pair of fastening sections 100 and 101, and flange sections 103 and 104 are installed. In this case, the pair of fastening sections 100 and 101 are formed into step shapes to be confronted with each other in the vehicle width direction, and at the same time, are arranged so as to be overlapped in the vehicle width direction with each other while each terminal is formed into a closed cross section. The flange sections 103 and 104 are projected in parallel with the overlapped surfaces 102 of the fastening sections 100 and 101, and are overlapped with the external surface of a mating frame member. The fastening sections 100 and 101 are fastened in the vehicle width direction, and at the same time, the flange sections 103 and 104 are combined to the mating frame member. Thus, a load is born by the combined section between the closed side surfaces of the fastening sections 100 and 101, and the combining strength of the combined section 47 is sufficiently ensured.
