Abstract:
To provide an engine lubricating oil composition having a low ash content, a low phosphorus content and a low sulfur content and especially suitably used for vehicles loaded with a diesel engine using a hydrocarbon fuel having the low sulfur content.
The engine lubricating oil composition is obtained by dissolving or dispersing the following components in a lubricating base oil.(a) a nitrogen-containing ashless dispersing agent, (b) a metal-containing cleaning agent, (c) an alkali metal borate hydrate and (d) zinc dihydrocarbyl dithiophosphate in which 52-98 mol% of hydrocarbyl groups in the zinc dihydrocarbyl dithiophosphate are secondary alkyl groups and 2-48 mol% of the balance are primary alkyl groups or alkylaryl groups.
