Abstract:

To provide an engine oil composition which is a phosphorus reduction-treated engine oil, but has wear resistance, heat resistance and durability equivalent to or higher that those of conventional engine oils without increasing a sulfur compound.

This engine oil composition is characterized by containing a zinc dithiophosphate represented by the general formula (1) [R1and R2are each a hydrocarbon group; (a) is the number of 0 to 1/3] in an amount of 100 to 500 mass ppm as a phosphorus content as a component (A) and the reaction product of a divalent or more hindered alcohol with a ≥8C monocarboxylic acid in an amount of 0.01 to 20 mass % as a component (B), in a lubricating base oil.
