To detect a possibility of the occurrence of an abnormality in an oxidation catalyst, in an engine provided with a filter for capturing particulate matters included exhaust gas and the oxidation catalyst for generating a highly-active nitrogen dioxide from a nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas at an upstream side of the filter.
An engine 1 is provided with a first abnormality alarm command unit for making an alarm device 15 execute an abnormality occurrence alarm for reporting abnormality occurrence in the regeneration of a filter 19 to a driver when an outlet temperature T5 is lower than an activation temperature, and all signal values from an outlet temperature sensor 35, an inlet temperature sensor 34, and an exhaust temperature sensor 33 fall within normal ranges during a predetermined first abnormality monitoring time when executing emergency regeneration.
