To provide an environment monitoring device capable of preventing refrigerant gas from being stagnant and reaching a fixed concentration or more by diffusing the leaked refrigerant gas in the case where the refrigerant gas being used in a refrigeration cycle apparatus is leaked.
The environment monitoring device comprises: air convection speed detection means for detecting a convection speed of air at a predetermined position within a space where the refrigeration cycle apparatus using the refrigerant gas is present; stirring means for stirring the air within the space to generate convection in the air; monitoring means for detecting whether the convection speed detected by the air convection speed detection means is lower than a predetermined convection speed reference value; and control means which operates the stirring means when it is detected by the monitoring means that the convection speed is lower than the convection speed reference value.
