Abstract:
To provide a drug for sustained release delivery of a physiologically active therapeutic compound administered epidurally.
A liposome preparation for treating the pain after surgery of a vertebrate animal or after delivery is epidurally administered as a single dose and includes an analgetic compound or an anesthetic compound encapsulated within multi-vesicular liposomes formed of phospholipids such as dipalmitoyl phosphatidyl choline, and dioleoyl phosphatidyl choline, and steroids such as cholesterol. The analgetic compound or the anesthetic compound is sustainedly released.
