Abstract:
A device for laying and leveling tiles (18), said device comprising: a shaft (14) having a generally smooth outer surface, an upper portion, a lower portion, and an elevated surface feature (15) extending longitudinally along the shaft (14); a bottom plate (12) combined with the shaft (14) lower portion; a top plate (10) having an opening (24) which is adapted to receive the shaft (14), said top plate (10) having an upper side and a lower side, the lower side of the top plate (10) having two spacer fins (26) adapted for insertion between adjacent tiles (18); and a locking assembly (33) having an opening (24) adapted to receive the shaft (14) and a locking tongue (30) having an engaged position wherein the locking tongue (30) pierces the generally smooth outer surface of the shaft's elevated surface feature (15) and a disengaged position wherein the locking tongue (30) does not pierce the generally smooth outer surface of the shaft's elevated surface feature (15), in its engaged position the locking tongue (30) allows the locking assembly (33) to move in a first direction along the shaft (14) but not in a second direction, in its disengaged position the locking assembly (33) is free to move in both the first and second direction.
