Abstract:
PURPOSE: To simplify the connecting mechanism between the footboards of a special footstep for mounting a wheelchair in an escalator by providing one shaft for rotatably supporting a normal rotating gear driven to fix two wheelchair steps and a reverse rotating gear reversely driven to release the fixation of two wheelchair steps.
CONSTITUTION: A normal rotating gear 33 and a gear interlocking gear 33c are fixed to a shaft 33a and rotatably supported on a special footstep by bearings 35 at both ends of the shaft 33a. A reverse rotating gear 34 and a gear interlocking gear 34c are journalled to the same shaft 33a as the normal rotating gear 33 and the gear interlocking gear 33c through bearings 36. The normal and reverse rotating gears 33, 34 and the gear interlocking gears 33c, 34c are formed into such structure as to be simultaneously rotatable in the respectively different directions on the same shaft 33a. The internal structure of steps is thereby simplified, and the diameter of a sprocket can be made large by that part so as to be able to reduce pulsation and vibration caused by the engagement with an engaging device.
