Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable purification of exhaust gas in a wide temperature range and reduce frequency of maintenance of a wet type absorption device in an exhaust emission control device including the wet type absorption device.SOLUTION: A main exhaust pipe 14 in which exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine 12 flows includes an exhaust emission control catalyst 16 that can suitably eliminate nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas when having a relatively high temperature. A branch pipe 18 branched from the main exhaust pipe 14 on the downstream side of the exhaust emission control catalyst 16 includes a wet type absorption device 24 enabling the nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas to be suitably absorbed to an absorption liquid 30 even when the absorption liquid 30 has a relatively low temperature. When a temperature of the exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine 12 is less than a temperature threshold value, the exhaust gas is caused to flow in the wet type absorption device 24. When the temperature of the exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine 12 is equal to or higher than the temperature threshold value, to prevent evaporation of the absorption liquid 30 and damage of a member of the wet type absorption device 24, the exhaust gas is not caused to flow in the wet type absorption device 24.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
