Abstract:
PURPOSE:To circulate a heating medium between a cooling path and a radiator without using a circulating pump to cool exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine indirectly through the heating medium. CONSTITUTION:A volatile heating medium such as water, etc. of which water level is kept roughly at a constant is charged into a cooling path 4 which is provided in an exhaust pipe 2 for an exhaust muffler 3 from an internal combustion engine 1. The upper portion of the cooling path 4 is connected to an upper tank 9a of an air-cooling type radiator 9 through a steam pipe 10, and a lower tank 9b of the radiator 9 is connected to the lower portion of the cooling path 4 through return pipes 6 and 12. The steam pipe 10 and the return pipes 6 and 12 are connected to each other by means of a bypass pipe 20. Also, a temperature sensing valve 21 is provided at a joint of the bypass pipe 20 and the steam pipe 10.
