Abstract:

To restrain soot and a deposit included in EGR gas from sticking to an outer peripheral surface of a valve element of a butterfly valve, in an exhaust gas recirculating device using the butterfly valve as an exhaust gas recirculating quantity control valve for adjusting an EGR gas quantity recirculating in an intake passage from an exhaust passage of an engine.

Among the valve element 120 of the butterfly valve 102, a shape of an inner wall surface 101a of an EGR gas passage 101 opposed to the outer peripheral surface 121a of the upstream side valve element 121 rotating to the upstream side of an EGR gas flow, is formed in the shape of covering the upstream side of the outer peripheral surface 121a of the upstream side valve element 121, and in the shape of running along a rotational locus of the outer peripheral surface 121a of the upstream side valve element 121, and thus, when opening the valve element 120, the outer peripheral surface 121a of the upstream side valve element 121 is protected against the EGR gas flow, and the soot and the deposit included in the EGR gas can be restrained from sticking to the outer peripheral surface 121a of the upstream side valve element 121.
