To provide an exhaust recirculation device of an internal combustion engine in which the leakage of the condensed water produced by the device to the outside can be suppressed.
This exhaust recirculation device comprises an exhaust recirculation passage 2 for introducing a part of the exhaust gases in the form of exhaust recirculation gas from the internal combustion engine into an intake system 101, a heat exchanger 36 installed in the exhaust recirculation passage 2, and an exhaust recirculation control valve 4 installed on the downstream side of the heat exchanger 36 and capable of adjusting the opening of the exhaust recirculation passage 2 between the fully closed position P1 and the fully open position P2. When the amounted of the condensed water produced in the exhaust recirculation passage 2 exceeds an allowable limit, the opening of the exhaust recirculation control valve 4 is controlled to a predetermined opening on the opening side more than the fully closed position P1.
