Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent generation of a sulfate due to overheating of a catalyst at the time of decelerated driving and idling immediately after it.
CONSTITUTION: Overheating is prevented by detecting (b) exhaust temperature on the downstream of a catalyst 3, limiting (c) EGR quantity by an EGR control valve 6 zero or in small quantity in the case when this exhaust temperature is higher than a specified value and flowing all or most of exhaust to the catalyst 3. Additionally, a quickly decelerated state when a load of an engine 1 is lower than a specified value is detected, and at this time, the EGR quantity is limited zero or in small quantity for a specified period of time.
