Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve an output of an engine in its high speed range while maintaining an output of the engine in its low speed range, by arranging a partition of specific shape in an exhaust pipe before an expansion chamber in a device in which a silencer consisting of the expansion chamber is connected to the rear part of the exhaust pipe. CONSTITUTION:A silencer 2 connected to an exhaust pipe 1 is equipped with an expansion chamber 5 divided by partitions 3, and pipes 4 of small diameter are provided by extending through said partitions 3. A cylindrical partition 6, whose diameter is reduced toward one end, is fixed by positioning its small contour side to the downstream side in the pipe 1 before said chamber 5. In this way, horsepower and torque in a high speed range can be improved while maintaining horsepower and torque in a low speed range without substantially causing the decrease as compared with a conventional exhaust silencer not provided with the cylindrical partition 6.
