PURPOSE: To expand the transmission processing function of a picture data by selecting either of two operating modes, that is, a usual facsimile function or a computer interlocking function depending on a command from the computer.
CONSTITUTION: The facsimile equipment 1 is connected to a usual facsimile equipment via a telephone line L and connected to a computer via a private line L1. The facsimile equipment 1 is provided with a mail box 13 used to send/receive a picture data between the computer and the usual facsimile equipment, the picture data is stored by designating a specific block of the mail box 13 and even an original read by a picture read section 11 is subject to prescribed conversion and stored in the mail box 13. The facsimile mode acting like the usual facsimile equipment or the computer interlocking function acted through the reception of the command is selected for the facsimile equipment 1 and in the case of the latter mode, various operations are executed according to the command from the computer.
