PURPOSE: To provide a facsimile store and forward exchange in which a communication fault history is definitely managed independently of kinds of facsimile equipments connecting to a network.

CONSTITUTION: On the occurrence of a communication fault, communication fault information by each cause is stored in an individual management area of a communication history management memory 12 provided to general-purpose facsimile equipments 20, 30 connecting to a network 40. When number of times of storage reaches a prescribed value or a communication fault history management timer 11 provides an output of a time expiration signal, a notice edit section 13 edits the communication history by each cause to generate a communication fault history notice 31, and it is distributed to the concerned facsimile equipment 30. The user of the facsimile equipment 30 recognizes it that what kinds of communication faults take place much in its own equipment by receiving the communication fault history notice 31.
