PURPOSE: To obtain the fault information reporting device of the terminal which can make a report at the time of fault occurrence more securely by equipping the device with a top priority report control means, a backup control means, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A POS terminal 1a can use two paths 'via ISDN' and 'via adjacent POS' as a communication path for reporting a fault. Once the POS terminal 1a detects a fault which can not automatically be restored, fault information is reported first directly to the work station 8 at a service base B by an ISDN network 7 through an ISDN interface. If, however, the fault contents indicates a fault of the ISDN interface and the fault can not be reported by the network 7, a request to report the fault information is sent to an adjacent terminal 1b by a LAN 3 through a LAN controller. The terminal 1b reports the fault information to the station 8 by the network 7 through the ISDN interface. Thus, a report path for the fault information on the POS terminal and its priority level can optionally be set.
