PURPOSE: The titled hopper which can feed the molding sand of always constant temperature, by installing the batchwise heating hopper and the heat preserving hopper in series.
CONSTITUTION: The cylinder 12 is actuated to bring down the hot air blasting pipe 8, and to close the lower port 14 of the heating hopper 5 with the packing 11; and then the pressure air at room temperature is introduced from the air inlet 15 installed in the upper portion of the pipe 8. This air is heated to 120°C while passing through the semiconductor heater 9, and is blasted from the hot air blasting port 10 into the hopper 5. Under this condition, the sand of room temperature is fed from the sand feeding pipe 18 into the hopper 5; then, the sand is heated by the hot air. Even if the sand fills up the hopper 5, the convection current of air is generated and the sand is heated to the specified temperature. Next, the cylinder 12 is actuated to lift the pipe 8, and then, the sand is charged into the heat preserving hopper 6. According to the requirement for making mold, the hot sand is charged from the hopper 6 into the mixer in which the sand is added with the necessary amount of the binder and water, and is kneaded together with, and then, is discharged as the molding sand.
