In the felt 10 for papermaking which includes a substrate 210 equipped with a yarn material 23 in MD direction and a yarn material 30 in CMD direction and a short fiber butt layer 4 entangled and integrated with the substrate 210, at least either one of the yarn material 23 in MD direction and the yarn material 30 in CMD direction is formed of a ply yarn obtained by ply-twisting a plurality of yarns obtained by carrying out first twisting of three monofilaments together.
