Title:
FERROUS SINTERED SLIDING MEMBER AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3658465
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give full play to the solid lubricating action of graphite by providing a specific composition and a matrix of ferritic structure and dispersedly incorporating graphite into the ferritic structure.
SOLUTION: This sliding member is a ferrous sintered sliding member which has a composition consisting of, by weight, 1-15% silicon, 1-8% tin, 5-25% graphite, and the balance iron and also has a matrix showing ferritic structure and in which graphite is dispersedly incorporated into the ferritic structure. Graphite is incorporated dispersedly into the α-phase consisting of iron, silicon, and tin and performs a solid lubricating action. Moreover, its addition in an amount as large as 25wt.% is made possible because the matrix has α-structure and does not cause the formation of free cementite. Further, an effect of falling off of graphite can be produced because the pores around the graphite powder are crushed and the graphite powder is held firmly by the matrix by means of the shrinkage phenomenon after the tin component and the silicon component are allowed to diffuse and enter into solid solution toward and in the iron component.
