PURPOSE: To make a fiber coil for an optical fiber gyroscope small, by separately using optical fiber strand without secondary coating and optical fiber conductor with secondary coating.
CONSTITUTION: Optical fiber strand A comprises a core 1, a clad 2 and a primary coating 3. Meanwhile, optical fiber conductor B comprises a core 1, a clad 2, a primary coating 3 and a secondary coating 4. The optical fiber strand A is wound around a bobbin 6 many times. The end part of the optical fiber strand A is fused and connected to the end part of the optical fiber conductor B at a connecting part 7. The other end of the optical fiber conductor B is provided with a sleeve 10 for coupling with another optical system. Since the optical fiber strand A, whose outer diameter is small, is wound around the bobbin, the volume of a coil becomes extremely small. Thus the fiber coil for an optical fiber gyroscope can be made small.
