PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition of high durability, flexibility and shear resistance which is applicable within a wide range of temperatures and contains a reinforcing fiber comprising a polyolefin wettable reinforcing component and a polyolefin-containing bonding component with a specific softening point, and a material base component.

CONSTITUTION: (A) A base component of an asphalt-type material suitable to be applied in advance of or simultaneously with heating of the substrate into a softened or molten form is mixed with (B) a two-component reinforcing fiber comprising a polyolefin wettable reinforcing component and a polyolefin- containing bonding component bonded to the polyolefin wettable reinforcing component, the bonding component having lower softening and melting points than the reinforcing component, and the mixture is heated to the temperature between the softening point of the bonding component and the melting point of the reinforcing component of the reinforcing fiber to obtain the objective fiber reinforced asphalt-type paving composition containing a reinforcing fiber bonded to each other more effectively for a long time of period after the conventional application than the reinforcing fiber in the mixture before heated.
