PURPOSE: To provide a film feeder of a camera which controls the feeding of film using one positioning means and achieves further cost reduction by means of a simple construction.

CONSTITUTION: This film feeder of a camera includes a photosensor 8 serving as a film feed rate detection means for detecting the initial feed rate of film, a control circuit 11 serving as a feed time computing means for computing feed time until the start of the advance of the film after detecting the initial feed rate of the film according to the detection of the initial feed rate, and a control circuit 11 serving as a control means for starting the advance of the film after the feed time has elapsed and for controlling the advance of the film so that a first frame locates on an aperture 7, the photosensor 8 being a detection means for detecting perforations formed on the film, the control circuit 11 being both a feed time computing means and an advance control means that perform operations and control according to the output of the photosensor.
