PURPOSE: To minimize the load upon a motor by making a film freely movable irrespective of a winding device at the preliminary winding and making the film windable into a patrone upon ending of the preliminary winding.

CONSTITUTION: This feeder is provided with a prewinding device which preliminarily winds the film F in a patrone 5 contained in a camera prior to exposure and a winding device which again winds the unexposed film F having been wound into the patrone. It is also provided with a winding stage change-over device which has the 1st state in which the film F becomes freely movable irrespective of the winding device at the time of peliminary winding and the 2nd state in which the film F is made windable into the patrone 5 upon ending of the preliminary winding, and which is constituted by a lever 33 and a torque detecting lever 34.
