To provide an implementing method or the like for a fingerprint collation system, requiring only a small work memory, and allowing rapid and highly accurate singular point collation, in a fingerprint collation process comprising image processing, peculiar point extraction, and singular point collation.
In this system, fundamentally, by tracing singular points of a registration fingerprint and an input fingerprint, and totaling and storing a collation score in a memory address according to a positional difference between a pair of the singular points, displacement of rotation and positions between the registration fingerprint and the input fingerprint is acquired to obtain a proper fingerprint pair score, and fingerprint collation is performed. Preferably, by performing global retrieval performing rough retrieval to roughly acquire the displacement of the rotation and the positions, and performing local retrieval performing detailed retrieval about the periphery thereof, memory cost can be suppressed, and accuracy and speed of the fingerprint collation are raised.
