Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for confirming a person himself by comparing characteristics selected from a reference fingerprint picture generated from the fingerprint of a person who is already know as a person himself by a sensor with a person himself fingerprint picture collected from a person who desires collation by a correlator.
SOLUTION: In a registration procedure, a registering processor analyzes the fingerprint of a person who is already known as a person himself, and searches plural reference patches original to the fingerprint of the person. The reference patch picture is stored with the position of a picture in a storage device 16. When the person himself fingerprint picture is presented, all the reference patches are compared with all possible patches in a similar size in the person himself picture, and the set of candidate coincident positions in the person himself picture is found. The sub-set of the candidate coincident positions is selected so that the candidate coincident positions can be geometrically and substantially made coincident with the positions of the sub-set of the corresponding reference patches. Then, collation coincidence is declared based on the number of the candidate coincident positions in the selected sub-set which fulfills the geometrical constraint.
