Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an extrusion coating method for magnetic recording medium in which trouble due to cutting at lug part is eliminated and trouble in heat treatment process causes no adhesion of supports.
CONSTITUTION: Coating liquid is applied, while pressing a coating head against the tip of a slot, onto the surface of a flexible support traveling continuously except breadthwise edge part thereof thus forming a magnetic layer 20. Prior to formation of the magnetic layer 20, an undercoat layer 13 of polymer solution having glass transition temperature higher than heat treatment temperature is formed at least a part of the flexible support 1 corresponding to the edge part at a width wider than the magnetic coating layer 2.
