PURPOSE: To permit the adjustment of flame and the instantaneous extinguishing of fire of a wick by a method in which the wick is vertical moved by operating a knob, and the wick is instantaneously dropped only by displacing a manually operable knob for lowering the wick to a small extent.
CONSTITUTION: A lever 60 is rotatably supported on the supporting shaft of a claw plate 32, and a spring 63 to regulate the rotation of the lever 60 under its own weight is attached to a bent piece. The projection 65 provided to one end of the claw plate 32 is positioned in a notch formed at the lower edge of the lever 60. The knob 67 is operated by a manually operable knob for lowering the wick, attached to the outside of the free end part of the lever 60 when the lever 60 is manually operated downwards. When the lever 60 is forcibly operated downwards, the notch is coupled with the projection 65, and the claw plate 32 is counteclockwisely turned against the spring 36. The coupling of the claw plate 32 and a gear 29 is released, the wick 4 is quickly lowered by the recovery force of a return spring 9 and a coil spring 43, and fire is extinguished.
