Title:
FITTING STRUCTURE FOR STEERING WHEEL PAD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0820301
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To suppress an increase of the cost caused by the use of a separate part and prevent a steering wheel pad from being removed from a bag holder when an air bag is inflated.

CONSTITUTION: Multiple claws 12 extended toward a pad side wall 9 are formed on the side wall section 1b of a bag holder 1 by punching, and through holes 13 are formed on the pad side wall 9. The claws 12 are inserted into the through holes 13 while the pad side wall 9 is located outside the side wall section 1b of the bag holder 1, and the tip portions of the claws 12 protruded from the pad side wall 9 are folded and caulked in the extending direction of the side wall section 1b. The pad side wall 9 is supported in a hook shape by the side wall section 1b of the bag holder 1 and the claws 12, and a pad 7 is firmly fixed to the bag holder 1. When an air bag 3 is inflated, stress is applied upward and outward, however the upward stress is mitigated by the claws 12 having the prescribed width. When the outward stress is applied, the pad side wall 9 is supported by the contact face of the side wall section 1b of the bag holder 1 and the contact faces of the claws 12, and it is hardly shaken.
