To provide a method of producing a metallic article with a flange.
This invention relates to the metallic article with the flange, including: a step (a) of making a first brazing compound adhere to a first portion in the metallic article; a step (b) of winding a metallic member for bonding, which has a certain length, around the first portion in the metallic article; and a step (c) of producing the metallic article with the flange by heating an assembly consisting of the metallic article, the metallic member and the first brazing compound, to a temperature exceeding a solidus temperature of the first brazing compound, typically to the temperature range from about 300°C to about 2,500°C. In the method, the metallic article has a coefficient of thermal expansion CTE1; the metallic member has a coefficient of thermal expansion CTE2; and CTE1 is greater than CTE2. This invention further relates to a metal flange by which inconsistency in thermal expansion between a high-expansion metal and a low-expansion brittle material is reduced to the minimum.
