Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost and high-strength fixing apparatus configured to improve thermal responsiveness, including a fixing roller with a heating element, such as a halogen heater, formed of thinned stainless steel.SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus which uses toner for copying, a fixing apparatus 9 heats a toner image to be fixed on a recording medium. A fixing roller 13 is heated by a halogen heater 15 arranged inside, to fix a toner image on a sheet 12. The fixing roller 13 is formed of a cylindrical body made of stainless steel having a thickness of 100-300 μm by spinning and surface roughening. The fixing roller 13 is pressed by a pressure roller 14. Multilayer stainless steel including aluminum alloy or copper alloy is also applied.
