PURPOSE: To make it possible to dress a grinding tool and grind a workpiece simultaneously by forming a member to fix the workpiece with vitreous material comprising fine grains of material capable of becoming abrasive grains included and giving a grinding tool dressing function to this fixing member.

CONSTITUTION: Base material of a fixing member(compound material) 2 is made of fine vitreous material). This prevents melted wax 3 from soaking into the fixing member 2, which allows the fixing member 2 to readily adhere to a workpiece(made of ceramics) 4 by means of wax 3. The fine grains composed of alumina and silicon carbide capable of becoming abrasive grains included in the base material work as a dresser on grinding tools made of diamond or CBN when being ground together with the workpiece 4.
